Other New Music
Yesterday was one of those days where there is so much to do and not enough time to get it all done. One thing that did help a little was that I had a schedule that was to include a mountain bike ride with Dan Reed. Fortunately that got cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.
Which helped for me since I needed to do a couple of song mixes. Then I had an afternoon full of showing music to others. After which came a trek to wilshire district for a class with an acting coach thanks to my agent. From there it was a trip to Joe’s Joint (yet again, 3 times in a week is a bit excessive) in order to drop off a thumbdrive to my buddy Jesse. What’s funny is that while there at the Joint, I was spotted by a Jerry Olsen, whom I haven’t seen in a while. He was playing in the band after Jesse. Even more coincidental is that Jesse was playing with a drummer I haven’t seen in a couple of years – Mark Bistany, who now goes by Moke.
It was nearly midnight when I got home and needing dinner.
During the afternoon I got a call from a trailer house saying, hey, can you do a piece of music for a trailer. Of course!
So that’s what’s part of my agenda today, writing a piece of music for a film trailer. Thus I’m going to keep this short. Being that it was requested at a moments notice and I’m in need of getting it done asap.
Being that I’m working on a trailer… and they tend to fade to black… I’m going with Fade to Black by Dire Straits. And why not? It’s a cool little ditty. Nice bluesy feel. I dig the mellow nature. In fact in light of all the hectic stuff going on yesterday it’s good to have a nice relaxed tune to provide a bit of counter balance. At least I think so.
I’m enjoying the slow swing of the drums and the spacious nature of the B3. It goes without saying that the guitar playing is nothing short of spectacular. So if you don’t have this song or the album, why not?
