We’re less than a week away from switching back onto daylight savings. At least I think we are according to the calendar I have subscribed to that shows such things in my iCal. Spring ahead, fall back is what the saying is I think. Thus come sunday instead of it being 10 a.m. it will be 11 a.m. Yikes. I suppose it’s a little victory for the power grid though. From what I understand the government wanted to extend daylight savings in order to reduce power consumption. That’s good for the environment right?

Last night I got a call from my buddy Mike. He was coming in from a trip to Vegas. Yes, Vegas. Woo Hoo. He’s a gambler, true to heart. But he wanted to catch a flick and decided he wanted to see Fired Up! So I figured what the hell, I’ll go. It’s one of those movies where you have to put the inner child in you out front. Enjoy it for the cheese that it is. It’s definitely a guy flick. Goofy guys being guys however it injects some heart into the thing at the end. Of course, like any good buddy flick the guy gets the girl in the end. Damn, now I ruined the ending for ya.

I had a second reason to go. A friend of mine was hired to sing some vocal stuff in the song that appears over the ending credits. Though there are parts of the chorus that are sung over several parts of the movie. The song in question was written by Mark Hopper. So like any good friend I wanted to hear the voice in the song. Sure enough over the ending credits her voice appears in the mix. Being the dork that I am, I pointed it out to Mike. The movie is good for a laugh. It’s way over the top in terms of campy. If you go, make sure to sit all the way thru to the blue ratings screen.

I’m getting back into the swing of writing songs for me again. I’m pushing thru a tune that I started music on last week. Lyrics are written, I have a melody for the chorus. Now it’s a matter of putting instruments in and fleshing out the verse. It’s fun so far. I had great inspiration. But I have other things looming. I’m likely going to be mixing that vast punk project. Plus I’m looking at doing some things with my friend Devin. Gotta see where I can squeeze that write for me time in.

Until then I’ll leave you with another song written by Mark Hopper and his more famous band known as Blink 182. Of course while you’re watching the movie and you’re past the age of high school you might ask the question that appears in the title of this song, what’s my age again? Mostly because the humor is pretty darn nutty. But as I said, it’s so nutty that it’s funny.

As for Blink, I’d pretty much say they had a license to print money. I wonder if they’ll still have that license now that they’re attempting the reunion thing. If you don’t have a copy of this song in your library it’s quite likely you were hiding under a rock. How can you not have a copy of something that is so catchy?

Inspired by great music and randomly spewed words, it makes for a fun way to learn about new music doesn't it? There is no money that can get you on to the site.
