It’s a funny thing when someone tells you you were inspiring to them. It’s an odd feeling to be someone else’s inspiration. I don’t know any other that actually wakes up in the morning and says to themselves, I’m going to do something today that will inspire someone else. At least I don’t.
I’ve had people tell me that I’ve inspired them to be a better guitar player. I’m cool with that cause I’ve heard it more than once. But I don’t really envision myself as the kind of guitarist that writes inspiring guitar parts. I only do what I do. It’s great that people find what I do interesting or inspiring.
There is a new case of inspiration that has been presented at me. I have now become the source of inspiration for a song. I might have mentioned this the other day. However, it never really sunk in. Still not really sure what to make of it. I think it’s cool, but then part of me questions what the hell it was that I did to inspire the song. I guess I shouldn’t question it.
Which is probably what leads me to Lex Land.
At least the title to her song As Much As You Lead. People say I’m a born leader, yet somehow I’ve escaped a whole lot of leading. But then I suppose I’ve led thru example on somethings. Maybe that’s the kind of thing that inspires others.
Lex has a nice flow that meanders around a piano riff. Vocally she reminds me of a slightly less edgy Rachael Yamagata. I like the lilt in her voice. I like the pulse of the piano. I like how the track builds. It’s got a sultry vibe that isn’t over the top sultry. Ha, I read a little PR on her after typing that and it describes Lex as sultry as well. So I suppose it’s buried in the DNA of her voice and this song. Around 3:50 in the song there’s a very cool buildup of extra vocals. Then it trails down off the high and finishes out.
Turns out that you that if you’re a fan of Private Practice, the TV show, you’ll be hearing this song airing on Wednesday the 26th of Nov. 2008. Pretty darn cool. I suppose you’re getting a little sneak peak here. No, no video from the show. But at least you’re going to have a heads up on her song.
I recommend keeping an ear out for Lex. Go pick it up at iTunes. As for my lead, I’m out mountain biking today!

Inspired by great music and randomly spewed words, it makes for a fun way to learn about new music doesn't it? There is no money that can get you on to the site.
