Back Where I Started - Single - CD Title

For the past several days the top of my left foot was going numb. Rather an odd thing. Of course when it first happened the thought process was that I slept funny or something. At the end of the day it was still numb and everything I was attempting didn’t work. Then the thoughts turn to other things like could something be seriously wrong…

I made an appointment for the chiropractor for this morning. Love to drift thru the LA traffic at morning rush hours. NOT. After describing the issue to the chiropractor he proceeded to loosen up the muscles then do some work on my lower back. Sure enough as he was working on it, there was a very specific point where I had some swelling and it was out of alignment. He popped it back in, and bingo, the numbness at the top of my foot began to dissipate.

I so appreciate the people that learn how to deal with the human body without the need for synthetic drugs.

Obviously there are some good things for western medicine, like necessary (or cosmetic if you really want it) surgery or setting broken bones. But sometimes all the body needs is to be properly aligned and sometimes set right with natures remedies.

It’s those very things that get us back to where we were or where we started. Which is what brings me to Curtis Peoples. I was given a chance to check him out and it worked out pretty good that I feel like I’m now able to get back to where I was before my foot started going numb. I kinda feel like I’m playing catchup.

The mellow vibe of the tune is good. It doesn’t rock the boat. It’s got a classic sound along the likes of say a Tom Petty or an Elvis Costello or something. Then there is an element in the prechorus that reminds me of a song by Melanie C (is that her name) the former Spice Girl who had a solo career. I’m hearing a similarity to her song that was in Bend It Like Beckham.

Curtis has that type of thing where the song has a familiar feel and is comfortable. It’s not challenging the listener to accept something new. A straight up type of tune that people from 6 to 66 could listen to. That’s a wide ranging demographic. I’m willing to bet that my mom and my dad would both dig the song as well. Of course if you’re looking to rebel against your parents this isn’t gonna foot the bill. Doesn’t mean you won’t tap your foot and pretend you’re playing air guitar while singing.

As a final note, it’s beginning to feel a tad like fall here in LA. Shocker. Which gets me in the mood for skiing. So yet another piece of familiar kicks in for me with this song. A movie called Aspen Extreme which I pop in every so often also has music that this could easily fit into.

Curtis is out and about playing shows. Catch him, and get his tunes.
