For some it’s as simple as a smile. For some it’s a sunny day. For some it’s camping. For some it’s a new video game. For some it’s a high speed cruise on a highway. For some it’s dangling from a tree. For some it’s a hug. For some it’s a new computer. For some it’s a movie. For some it’s a song… Actually, there’s way to many things to list that would one a feeling of taking flight. There are times when we even dream about it. Don’t you? I think the reality is that it depends on the mood you’re in. At least is for me.
In the continuing tradition I’m doing what I can to expand my own tastes. I don’t have a huge country catalog to choose from. I wasn’t raised on it, but it certainly was all around me. You can’t miss it in Utah. My parents were into popular music, hippie stuff, classic rock, and thus they sheltered me from even their own upbringing - they are from Utah. In order for me to connect with this style, I have to like the singers voice and appreciate the melody line.
Today’s choice has never likely been on your radar, but he’s shooting for the sky. I think it was the opening guitar lick that drew me in because it’s not a standard country tone. To me it’s actually out of place, but hey it kept me listening until Brad started singing. Like my buddy Don Campbell, Brad has voice that is designed for singing country. This is a good thing. Like any style a good singer will keep you listening, a poor singer will cause you to turn it off - at least it does for me.
This is probably the most traditional sounding country song I’ve posted yet. Maybe I’m finally ‘getting it’ eh? Who knows. From the story in the song, it’s obvious that Brad is talking about a tough guy who has seen the light, been reformed, or just plain fallen in love. I realize that the angel is a female in the song, but I wonder. Are all angels women?
I can think of a couple of people that read Single of the Day that will likely purchase this right off the bat. But I’ll dare others who don’t normally own any country music to do the same.

Inspired by great music and randomly spewed words, it makes for a fun way to learn about new music doesn't it?

One of my favorite songs from Brad! I am absolutely amazed the Nashville hasn’t sucked him up yet - you are a star in the making Brad - I wish you all the best. I hope to see you at the CMA awards real soon.

Been a fan of country music for 60 years. Now and then a fresh voice comes on the scene. This is one. Nice song, good lyrics, and worth listening to. This young man is going to go places.

I used to dance for Brad’s concerts, and if you think his voice sounds good in this song, you should hear him just walking around singing acapella… it’s amazing! Hope all is well Brad and you’re continuing on your road to success! We know you’ll make it one day.
