Today is: Sunday's Child

Sometimes you come across something so different it makes you see things in a new way. I’m working at getting back to the initial spirit of Single of the Day. It’s certainly taken some turns I haven’t expected. Namely I had to start diggin into signed artists due to difficulty in finding music that I felt was up to the standards I had set from the start. Another issue I’ve had is that I’m working at helping artists sell their music. The easiest way to do that is with the iTunes links you find on any day other than Sunday. I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again, if your music is good enough to be signed, you should be selling it on iTunes. There’s no excuse not to.

Today’s choice is pretty different from most of the music I’ve posted in the past. I would have gotten to it a long time ago but I have a damn long line of music from non-signed artists that aren’t selling on iTunes. There is something so quirky about the song today that I certainly don’t know why I enjoy it. I’m not generally a fan of modern electronica type stuff. Good View can’t pigeon into Electronica though, but it’s certainly got it’s base in it.

The opening female voice layers and strange harmony is facinating. I think that’s my tie into the song. Once the drums kick in I’m feeling a familarity to Enya and their huge hit. The bass is a cool line, though I probably would have gone a little more nutty with the patch that was used. I think doubling it with a couple of different sounds would space it out and make it more than just that flowing riff. That’s just me.

I envision this song being something that backs up a driving scene in an indie film. Where the main character is driving through some forrest with his new found woman. They’re into something a little off kilter and prefer to live outside of the mainstream, thus the reason they’re driving to the river. But what do they do once they get to that house on the riverbank? Help me finish the story…
